Related Midwest has announced that Veteran Roasters has been selected as the company’s in-office coffee provider, and will also feature the Chicago- based coffee roasters coffee on-site daily at construction projects. In celebration of this partnership, Related
Midwest hosted an event at the 900 Randolph job site on June 30 to provide free coffee for hundreds of tradespeople and highlight the U.S. Veterans who make Veteran Roasters so special.

Bikes & Music, a Chicagoland 501(c)(3) nonprofit corporation, has a goal to raise $25,000 by August 20, 2022. The funds are needed for the repair of donated bicycles, and for the purchase of new bike helmets and locks. The bikes and equipment will be provided to children and adults in need.

Art on theMART’s Fall 2022 program is slated to premiere at 8:30 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 8, and will feature two new projections highlighting the city of Chicago’s Year of Chicago Dance: Love Letters by internationally-renowned, Chinese-born, Chicago-based artist Yuge Zhou, and Trap Moulin Rouge, a commissioned piece by local performing artist Jasmin Taylor.
Amplifying the voices and stories of current and former public housing residents — a central focus of the Chicago-based National Public Housing Museum— will be made possible by a $1 million donation from the Joseph and Bessie Feinberg Foundation. Lisa Holder White was sworn in Thursday as the first Black woman to serve on the Illinois Supreme Court. Holder White, who previously served on the 4th District Court of Appeals, was chosen to succeed one of her mentors in the legal profession, retiring Justice Rita B. Garman, who broke many barriers herself as a woman in what was then a male-dominated profession.

Myesha-Tiara was in college when she decided she wanted to start a theater company. She was in a theater class and saw all the actors of color and thought they should have a space to perform. In 2019, she founded Perceptions Theatre. From July 10th and 11th Perceptions Theatre hosted its second annual BIPOC Play Festival.

The Obama Foundation recently, announced the creation of the Local Lunchbox Chicago pilot project that aims to provide more than 100,000 meals this summer. The healthy food program connects nonprofits, schools, and other community organizations that serve young people across Chicago with local chefs to serve delicious, healthy, and culturally relevant meals to kids and teens 18 and under. The pilot project, created in partnership with the Shah Family Foundation, will be entirely funded by the United States Department of Agriculture.
