Comcast Corporation (Nasdaq: CMCSA) recently announced it has selected two new African American majority-owned independent networks to be broadly distributed on Comcast Cable systems beginning in January 2019. After a thorough evaluation of dozens of proposals, Comcast selected AFRO and CLEO TV, both of which will provide quality entertainment that highlights and features TV and movie content about African American and black communities.

The dynamic and always colorful Muntu Dance Theatre of Chicago will present its fall concert series “New Dimensions,” an amazing show of skill, expertise, culture, versatility and power featuring the world premiere work by Iddrisu Alhassan Abdulai entitled "AGBEKOR" – a story of the Ewe people of Ghana. Abdulai has been sharing West African culture around the world and is originally from Ghana, having spent eight years with the Ghana Dance Ensemble. He also served as artistic director of Afrique Dance Ensemble and the residents dance ensemble of the W.E.B. DuBois Memorial Center in Ghana. Currently, he resides in Bloomingdale, IL, and has been with Muntu Dance Theatre of Chicago for nearly three years.

The West Indian Dance Theater Company will celebrate its 40th year Anniversary since arriving in Chicago. The celebration will consist of a weekend of performances including a special benefit night. This takes place October 19 at 7:00 pm, Oct. 20 at 7:00 pm and Oct. 21 at 4 pm at the DuSable Museum of African American History at 740 E. 56th Place, Chicago, IL.. The exclusive ruby red benefit night will take place on Saturday evening following the concert.
