An aggressive hiring effort is underway at Ada S. McKinley Community Services to bring more mental health professionals to historically under-resourced South Side Chicago communities. Ada S. McKinley is seeking to fill a variety of mental health positions to support its new leadership role in the Pathways to Success Program, launched earlier this year by the Illinois Department of Healthcare and Family Services (DHS). Under this new role, Ada S. McKinley, one of the largest social enterprises on Chicago’s South Side, will strengthen its efforts to provide comprehensive care to youth in mental health crises.

Project OneTen receives $150,000 from NewSchools Venture Fund
Dirrick Butler founded Project OneTen in 2018 with the goal of helping young men of color coming out of eighth grade transitioning into high school. Project OneTen received the $150,000 in unrestricted funding from the NewSchools Venture Fund as part of its Racial Equity investment area. NewSchools Venture Fund Racial Equity investment aims to offer “dream capital” to leaders who are working to address racial inequities in education.
Cook County Awards Community-Based Service Providers $25 Million to Address Gun Violence

On Saturday, January 7th, RTHS Employee Romeno Carradine, who is helping raise five grade school grandchildren, lost all of her earthly possessions in an early morning house fire in Park Forest, Illinois. Fortunately, Romeno, her five grandchildren, and adult relatives were able to exit the home safely. However, the family were left with only the clothing on their backs when they were rescued from the burning home.
