Cook County Assessor Joseph Berrios has announced that reassessment notices have been mailed to close to 144,000 single-family and 4,000 condominium homeowners in Lake Township. Reassessment notices contain proposed values for property Tax Year 2018, which will be reflected on Second-Installment Tax Bills to be mailed and due in the summer of 2019.
Property in Cook County is reassessed every three years (triennially). For all valuations in the 2018 Tax Year City Triennial Reassessment, the Cook County Assessor’s Office (CCAO) is using an improved assessment model that has met the longstanding goal of reducing regression. This results in the more accurate assessments of homes.

A draft consent decree that sets enforceable standards for police reform in Chicago was recently released by Attorney General Lisa Madigan, Mayor of Chicago Rahm Emanuel, and the Chicago Police Superintendent, Eddie Johnson. Chicagoans now have until Aug. 17 to review and comment on the draft consent decree before it goes before a federal judge who will decide whether or not to approve the document.
Today the Obama Foundation opened applications for its Community Leadership Training Day program aimed at encouraging civic engagement in young people ages 18-25. Building on the Foundation’s pilot trainings last year and consistent with the Foundation’s mission to inspire, empower, and connect the next generation of leaders, the program will train participants in basic leadership skills so they can tackle important issues in their communities. The one- and a half-day programs will take place in Oakland, California; Dallas, Texas; and Oklahoma City; Oklahoma in September and October.

Cook County Assessor Joseph Berrios announced today that his office is releasing the improved residential regression model used for the current 2018 reassessment of the City of Chicago. Assessor Berrios said, “Improving residential assessments has been a top priority and with the new resources now available to us from Civic Consulting Alliance (CCA) and Tyler Technologies (“Tyler”), we have been able to accomplish what we set out to do.”
This year’s Forest Preserves Experience crews included youth ranging from 14 to 19 years old who come from families who utilize the services of the Housing Authority of Cook County. Throughout the program, the participants conducted hands-on work at local forest preserves, learned about the environment during educational days, met with and learned from conservation professionals, participated in a Green Career Panel, well as a “Smart Money” class presented by HACC.
