Cantu Beauty Continues Commitment to Elevate Black Female Founders
Cantu Elevate, the brand-owned initiative and entrepreneurship accelerator program from award-winning multicultural hair and skincare brand, Cantu Beauty, together with BrainTrust Founders Studio (BTFS), the beauty and wellness membership platform for Black founders, has selected the 2022 Cantu Elevate $20,000 grant winner: Ezinne Iroanya, founder and CEO of SKNMUSE, a skin and body care brand that prioritizes “elevating the beauty experience for Black women” while utilizing clean ingredients as well as clean beauty practices adopted from West Africa.
Governor Pritzker Continues Effort to Ramp Down COVID-19 Requirements with Updated Executive Order
As part of his continuing plan to carefully unwind the state’s COVID-19 executive orders, Governor Pritzker updated vaccine and testing requirements in some industries. The updated executive order amends testing requirements for some unvaccinated health care employees and removes mandates for some other industries. Among the provisions that have been lifted in past months, Governor Pritzker has reduced requirements for school exclusion, removed provisions relating to setting up alternative care facilities, returned to non-emergency hospital oversight by removing several provisions and restarted normal jail-to-prison transfers. Other changes included lifting provisions in an effort to ensure governments are resuming normal operations.
Reps. Davis, Gomez, Peters, & Panetta Introduce Bill to Help Millions of Struggling Renters via Innovative Tax Credit
Rep. Danny K. Davis (D-IL), Rep. Jimmy Gomez (D-CA),Rep. Scott Peters (D-CA), and Rep. Jimmy Panetta (DCA) introduced innovative legislation to help millions of cost-burdened renters at a time when housing costs are skyrocketing as the gap between incomes and housing costs grows. The Rent Relief Act creates a new tax credit for renters that would cover a percentage of the difference between 30 percent of their adjusted gross income and the actual cost of rent and utilities, capping the benefit at 100% of Small Area Fair Market Rent. The bill makes the credit available to most working families by allowing the credit for families earning up to $100,000. Further, it delivers help when needed with monthly payments to pay bills when they are due, building on the successful advanced Child Tax Credit that helped tens of millions escape poverty.

Bikes & Music Announces Summer “Fun-Raiser!” Group Ride and Cookout to Follow Online Fundraising Drive
Bikes & Music, a Chicagoland 50 (s) (3) nonprofit corporation, has a goal to raise $25,000 by August 20,2022. The funds are needed for the repair of donated bicycles, and for the purchase of new bike helmets and locks, The bikes and equipment will be provided to children and adults in need.
