The Path Forwarded Framed by Isaiah 40: 28
The Path Forwarded Framed by Isaiah 40:
28 Do you not know? Have you not heard?
These days are turbulent and trying. There is a concerted effort to destabilize and stoke fear with uncertainty and chaos. The very foundation of our society is being inspected for dismantling while those in the position to stop this unraveling do nothing or acquiesce to the orders given. This country’s path towards stability, equity, and sustainability will grow narrower and more obscure from here.
The Lord is the everlasting God, the Creator of the ends of the earth. He will not grow tired or weary,
and his understanding no one can fathom. 29 He gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak.
Our power lies in our willingness to collectively act on our desire for better. The coalition that emerges in this moment will be one stripped of performative allyship, racial and gender hierarchies. There is no way forward that maintains the status quo where the veneer of progress and identity politics is allowed to mask the reach of white supremacy and America’s caste system. We will need to deeply examine the fabric of this country with a spirit of naked authenticity ready to remake society in a process akin to South Africa’s truth and reconciliation commission.
31 but those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.
Though the arc of history bends towards justice, if we are to experience that justice in our lifetime we must act. Act as a coalition of individuals who have each done the work to confront the hard truths of this country and our place in it. The power to compel righteousness is ours and we are strengthened by our faith and hope.
