Based in Chicago Heights, Respond Now is a nonprofit organization that has been providing critical support for vulnerable residents of south suburban Cook County for almost 50 years. The organization connects residents with social services that can help them with food security, rent or mortgage assistance, utility payments, clothing, transportation, and prescription medication costs.

Dr. Michael Eric Dyson recently kicked-off “Conversation Peace,” his first-ever tour of historically black colleges and universities (HBCUs) in the United States. Dr. Dyson, the noted academic, author, lecturer, minister and radio host, recently spoke at Harris-Stowe State University in St. Louis, followed by Bethune-Cookman University in Daytona Beach and Wayne County Community College District-Northwest Campus in Detroit as the third stop of the tour. He appeared at Morehouse College on April 26th.

The Chicago Police Department (CPD) recently opened up a portal on their website for Chicagoans to give feedback on the Criminal Enterprise Database, also known as the Gang Database. This public comment period will close on May 11 and at that time, the CPD will consider the public comments before finalizing and implementing the updated policy.
