Governor JB Pritzker along with the Department of Healthcare and Family Services (HFS) announced the launch of the Program of All-Inclusive Care for the Elderly (PACE) to better meet the needs of older adults across Illinois. The program expands options for community-based care and serves as an alternative to traditional nursing facility care, allowing eligible seniors to continue living safely at home.

Galvin Artistic Director of The Joffrey Ballet, proudly announces the launch of the Joffrey Academy Contemporary Ballet Trainee Program, the first full-time contemporary ballet training program offered by a classical ballet company in the United States. The innovative program creates pathways towards professional opportunities in contemporary ballet and will be launched in fall 2022 under new leadership in the Joffrey Academy, Official School of The Joffrey Ballet, with the appointment of Katlin Michael ¬Bourgeois as the inaugural Head of the Contemporary Ballet Trainee Program and former Joffrey Artist Oğulcan Borova as the new Head of Studio Company and Ballet Trainees. Bourgeois and Borova begin their new roles on Aug. 22, nearly one year after the Joffrey Academy of Dance opened its new studio space and training facilities at 1920 S. Wabash Avenue as part of the Company’s “Joffrey for All” strategic growth plan.

Governor JB Pritzker and the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation (IDFPR) issued five additional Conditional Adult Use Dispensing Organization Licenses to applicants selected in lotteries held in the summer of 2021. A few months back, I wrote a column focused on my misgivings about the proposed merger of two huge railroads – Canadian Pacific and Kansas City Southern. As I wrote at the time, I feared that the merger would add to the environmental and health burdens already facing Black communities and other communities of color by introducing more rail traffic and more carbon emissions while also negatively impacting things like emergency response and commute times.
