Hirsch High School Celebrates 100 Years

Emil G. Hirsch Metropolitan High School, located at 7740 S. Ingleside, is celebrating its 100th year anniversary. The school, which is located in the Greater Grand Crossing neighborhood, opened in 1926. It began as a junior high school, serving students from seventh-ninth grade.

Local Civil Engineers Want To Expose More Young People To Careers In Engineering

Michael Bempah, Professional Engineer (P.E.), took a career exploration class and he discovered that he wanted to pursue a degree in civil engineering. The field combined his skills and his hobbies and the more he studied it, the more he enjoyed it. Bempah started Pinpoint Precision Engineering in 2017. Through his firm, he has worked on construction management, fiber installation and roadway design projects, with a focus on utility infrastructure, land development and transportation management.

Alan Mingo, Jr., started out as a singer and was even in a boy band performing in talent shows. He fell in love with acting. Seeing the movie version of The Wiz for his first time he saw people who looked like him and sang like him on the screen.
