CHICAGO – Seobia Rivers is a Chicago based fitness and wellness expert. She’s been known across the city as The Fitness and Health Creative. For a third year, she’s partnered with the Department of Cultural Affairs & Special Events | DCASE to lead a special free class, open to the public, right in the city’s downtown at Millennium Park — The Great Lawn. The class will take place on Saturday, July 18th at 10:00 am.
Rivers’ free cardio kickboxing class is offered as part of the city’s Saturday mornings during the summer where residents can participate in various free workouts in the park until September. Rivers said she had a successful turnout for the last two years, and the class was well attended, helping bring business to her the fitness classes that she continues to host throughout the city all year.
“I appreciate how the city is providing free workouts to residents in some of the most beautiful outdoor spaces that Chicago has to offer,” said Rivers. “I encourage people to join me in the park for some fun cardio workout for all ages and all fitness levels.”
Rivers said that although the workout is not intense, she still encourages participants to stay hydrated, bring water to the workout class and a mat and towel are optional.
Rivers said she is driven by a profound passion for wellness, community, and the liberation of self-expression With an extensive decade-plus long journey as a Fitness Professional, Rivers holds a Bachelor's Degree in Exercise Science from Illinois State University. She is the Assistant Director of
the FitWell Center at The University of Illinois Chicago, a certified Personal Trainer + Group Fitness Instructor, and Co-Founder of Healthy Hood Chicago.
“My training philosophy is to create exercise experiences that are safe, progressive, effective, educational, and encouraging. To me, it’s imperative to teach my clients how to maintain a healthy lifestyle fit for them. I prioritize science & proper form, enjoyment, and methods to strengthen ‘mental muscles’ too. They say “give someone a fish, and you feed them for a day. Teach someone how to fish, and you feed them for a lifetime.” I agree. I’m here to help educate myself & others on movement and mindful living,” said Rivers.
