Continuing its commitment to empowering the next generation of diverse leaders and inv esting in emerging technologies, Molson Coors is expanding its partner ship with Inner City Computer Stars (i.c.stars) to reach multiple cities in one cycle. For the first time ever, the program took on a regional approach t o solicit uniq u e ideas for a new innovation space in the Molson Coor s Chicago and Milwaukee c orporate offices. Earlier this month, i.c.stars alumni in Chicago and Milwaukee compete d in small groups to present their winning idea which all embraced cutting edge technologies . The winn ing team was announced on July 15 and included alumni students Angel Delgado and Khalil Hall.

The Small Business Administration assists those affected by Calumet City condo fire
On Monday, May 30th, there was a fire at The Park of River Oaks Condominium, located at 150 Park Ave., in Calumet City. The Small Business Administration opened a temporary Disaster Loan Outreach Center in early July to assist residents and businesses affected by the fire after Governor JB Pritzker sent a letter to the Small Business Administration. That letter requested a disaster declaration and allows residents and businesses to apply for a low-interest disaster loan from the Small Business Administration. The declaration covers Cook County, Lake County in Indiana, as well as DuPage, Kane, Lake, McHenry and Will counties in Illinois.

The Soul Children of Chicago Celebrates 40 Years
The Soul Children of Chicago began as a school choir in 1981. Founder Walt Whitman was the Minister of Music at St. John De La Salle Church, located at 102nd and King Drive. The church needed a music teacher for St. John De La Salle School. The students in the choir performed at Mass every third Sunday.

‘Sunset 1919’ memorializes the lives lost during the 1919 Race Riots
In Chicago, on July 27th, 1919, Eugene Williams, a young African American boy was killed while swimming in Lake Michigan by a group of white people. It led to riots where 1,000 Black families lost their homes when they were torched by people rioting, and 23 Black people were killed.
