YWCA METROPOLITAN CHICAGO AND ULTA BEAUTY INSPIRE NEXT GENERATION OF GIRLS AT ‘PRETTY EMPOWERED’ YOUTH EVENT
CHICAGO, IL — On Saturday, Oct. 18, the YWCA Metropolitan Chicago and Ulta Beauty brought together 100 Chicago girls ages 9-14 at “Pretty Empowered,” an interactive event designed to build confidence and inspire career pathways for young women through workshops on self-care, STEM and beauty industry career opportunities. From prior Chicago events, 89% of participants said they gained a better understanding of the value of self-care and self-confidence, and 90% said they left with a stronger understanding of leadership.
“When we lift up young women, we lift up entire communities,” said Nicole Robinson, CEO of the YWCA Metropolitan Chicago. “Through this work, we’re building confidence and self-worth while helping the next generation of female leaders imagine new possibilities for themselves and their futures. Shining a light on young women is what we need to do now, more than ever.”
The event was held with support from the Ulta Beauty Charitable Foundation and introduced participants to mentorship and career exploration in cosmetic science, supply chain management, and health and wellness. The event aims to foster a more inspired and empowered next generation of young female leaders in the workplace.
