LYNWOOD POLICE DEPARTMENT ANNOUNCES MAJOR UPDATES AND SIGNIFICANT IMPROVEMENTS IN COMMUNITY SAFETY AND OPERATIONS
Lynwood, IL – Lynwood Mayor Jada D. Curry and the Lynwood Police Department is pleased to announce several key updates and improvements since February 2021 that reflect our ongoing commitment to enhancing public safety, streamlining operations, and fostering a secure environment for all residents and visitors.
Implementation of DACRA
As part of our modernization efforts, the department has successfully implemented the DACRA system, a state-of-the-art tool designed to expedite and streamline ticketing processes and court system interactions. This advanced system enhances operational efficiency and reduces administrative delays, ensuring timely resolution of citations while maintaining accuracy and transparency.
Increased Police Staffing
Since February 2021, the Lynwood Police Department has achieved a 36% increase in police staffing. This significant expansion enables greater community engagement, faster response times, and enhanced coverage to meet the needs of our growing community.
Reduction in Crime Rates
The department's strategic initiatives and increased presence have led to a remarkable reduction in crime indices:
A 22.5% reduction in the violent crime index, reflecting our commitment to addressing serious offenses and safeguarding residents.
An 18% reduction in the property crime index, a testament to our proactive measures and community partnerships in deterring theft and related crimes.
Enhanced Traffic Enforcement
With a 44.6% increase in traffic enforcement, the Lynwood Police Department has successfully reduced the number of major accidents, resulting in safer thoroughfares and improved quality of life for drivers and pedestrians alike. These efforts underscore our dedication to ensuring public safety on our roadways.
