Citizen Newspaper Group's March 2024 Primary Election Results
As the Primary Election ended on Tuesday evening, voters still await the final tally in the Cook County States Attorney race. Because of close margins in the race no candidate could declared victory. It could take weeks or longer before a person can step forward announcing a victory.
According to the Chicago Board of Elections, 349,639 people voted out of 1.7 million registered voters cast their ballots from the time that early voting started on March 4th until Election Day, March 19th.
Here are the results for the races we looked at.
Illinois Supreme Court
Incumbent Joy V. Cunningham faced challenger Jesse Reyes. With 76.34% of the votes, Cunningham is the winner.
Illinois 1st District Appellate Court
Incumbent Cynthia Cobbs faced challenger Carolyn Gallagher. With 67.37% of the votes, Cobbs is the winner.
Clerk of the Circuit Court of Cook County
Incumbent Iris Martinez faced a challenge by Metropolitan Water Reclamation District Board Member Mariyana Spyropoulos and Republican Lupe Aguirre. With 69.34% of the votes, Spyropoulos is the winner.
Cook County Board of Review
Larry Rogers, Jr. faced a challenge from Larecia Tucker. With 60.53% of the votes, Rogers is the winner.
Cook County State’s Attorney
Kimberly Foxx announced she would not be seeking re-election. Clayton Harris III and Eileen O’Neill Burke. With 54.15% of the votes, O’Neill Burke is the winner.
Illinois State Representative District 5
Incumbent Kimberly Du Buclet was appointed to the seat that was left vacant when Lamont Robinson was elected as 4th Ward Alderman. Du Buclet faced Democratic challenger Andre Smith and Republican Challenger Alan Rasho. With 77.31% DuBuclet is the winner.
Illinois State Representative District 6
Mr. Dad’s Father’s Club Founder Joseph Williams challenged incumbent Sonya Harper. Republican Sean Dwyer also campaigned for the 6th District seat. With 73.54% of the votes, Harper is the winner.
Illinois State Representative 27th District
Incumber Justin Slaughter faced challenger Tawana Robinson. With 75.19% of the votes, Slaughter is the winner.
Illinois State Representative 29th District
Incumbent Thaddeus Jones faced challenger Gloria White. With 74.11% of the votes, Jones is the winner.
Illinois State Representative 31st District
Incumbent Mary Flowers faced challenger Michael Crawford. With 68.97% of the votes, Crawford is the winner.
U.S. Congressional District 7
Incumbent Danny K. Davis was challenged by Kina Collins, Kouri Marshall and City Treasurer Melissa Conyears-Ervin. With 52.32 % votes, Davis is the winner.
