URGENT CALL FOR TOYS TO SAVE CHRISTMAS AS DONATIONS REACH A CRITICAL DEFICIT
URGENT CALL FOR TOYS TO SAVE CHRISTMAS AS DONATIONS REACH A CRITICAL DEFICIT
The Salvation Army North and Central Illinois Division makes a plea for new, unwrapped toys.
CHICAGO — The Salvation Army North and Central Illinois Division is asking residents to help meet the need across the state as the Christmas holiday approaches. The Salvation Army Angel Tree program helps so many during this difficult time of year, but unfortunately, thousands of children still need help.
Across the division, we are thousands of gifts behind last year’s total and our 2024 goal.
The deficit means thousands of babies, toddlers, adolescents, and teenagers will wake up Christmas morning and have nothing. We are pleading with those who have the means to help us fill that void and save Christmas. Corps community centers are warning of deficits at all age levels. Gifts for boys and girls, ages 0-18, are needed to make this holiday season merry for children across the state.
New, unwrapped, age-appropriate toys for babies, toddlers, and adolescent children are appreciated, as well as gift cards to help fill the void for teenagers.
“Each toy donated brings love, joy, and happiness to a child this Christmas,” said Major Caleb Senn, Salvation Army Chicago Area Commander. “Our goal is to make sure no child wakes up Christmas morning without a gift. We are calling on the generosity of our neighbors to make sure children across the state have a Merry Christmas.”
To help, please drop off toys and gift cards at The Salvation Army Divisional Headquarters (5040 N. Pulaski Road, Chicago, IL 60630). Toys and gift cards can also be ordered from Amazon and delivered to The Salvation Army Divisional Headquarters.
Another way Chicagoans can help save Christmas is by making a monetary donation at SalArmyChicago.org.
