Recently, the voters in the state of Virginia approved a plan that will allow for the redrawing of that state’s congressional map for the remainder of this decade. This is part of a larger battle over the issue of redistricting that is taking place in several states ahead of the 2026 Midterm Election. The approval of the Virginia referendum drew praise from the leadership of the National Coalition on Black Civic Participation (NCBCP) and the Black Women’s Roundtable (BWR), the leadership development, mentoring, intergenerational empowerment, and power-building arm of the NCBCP.
