(center) Diane Chandler-Marshall, co-chair of “A White Glove Event” and board member at eta Creative Arts Foundation, is surrounded by board and committee members wearing white gloves in recognition of the theme.  The event was held in recognition of the Centennial Celebration of late Illinois Poet Laureate Gwendolyn Brooks.  The afternoon featured a pre-performance discussion with Nora Brooks Blakely, author of the play “The Tiger Who Wore White Gloves” based on the book by her mother and director Aaron Mitchell Reese followed by a performance of “The Tiger Who Wore White Gloves.”  After the performance, guests enjoyed a reception featuring The White Glove Signature Cocktail, a Champagne Bar, passed hors d’oeuvres and a scrumptious dessert bar from Brown Sugar Bakery. Proceeds benefited eta, Chicago’s oldest, consistently operating performing and cultural arts complex in the African American community.
