In a closely watched race, longtime U.S. Congressman Bobby Rush (Dist.-1) retained his seat after battling Ald. Howard B. Brookins, Jr. (Ward 21st) and O. Patrick Brutus for the position. Rush received over 72 percent of the vote at press time.
