Black at Microsoft (BAM) and Microsoft STEM Americas divisions hosted a free STEM Workshop for Chicago Public School students on the South of Chicago. The workshop will featured cybersecurity experts who drew attention to the importance cybersecurity to protect systems, networks, and programs from digital attacks for National Cybersecurity Awareness Month.

The books were published in 1998-1999 and there was even a “Roopster Roux Day.” Lavette created a Roux community, with reading
and sports at the center. She dreamed of using Roopster Roux to get kids excited about reading and creating a bridge outside of the classroom for parents to help their kids read. She wanted to create Roux gas stations, where gas stations would also be
reading centers.
From Friday-Saturday, Sept.30-Oct. 1, Chicago City Treasurer Melissa Conyears-Ervin and BMO Financial Group hosted the “Building Wealth Today for Tomorrow Financial Empowerment Weekend” at the UIC Forum. The event combined the Treasurer’s two signature events - the Building Wealth Today for Tomorrow Financial Empowerment Summit and the Financial Services Career Fair. Over 1500 Chicagoland residents took the opportunity to gain insights into the current financial trends, build relationships to obtain job opportunities within the financial services industry, join workshops on saving money, buying
a home or starting a business, and access much more.
The Source Grow Grant prioritizes sectors that were heavily impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic – hospitality, food service, arts and entertainment, retail trade, transportation, warehousing, childcare and social assistance, as well as accommodations. The hope is the grant money and business advising to people in these sectors from these communities will help close the racial wealth and opportunity gap. The funds for the Source Grow Grant were provided by the American Rescue Plan Act.
