Advocate Aurora Health investing in South Suburban mental health services
Recognizing the growing need for mental health care in South Chicagoland, Advocate Aurora Health recently announced a $20-million investment in a new state-of the-art inpatient behavioral health facility at Advocate South Suburban Hospital in Hazel Crest.

Elections are the process of one becoming powerful. Holding office can be filled with disappointments, failed policies, exclusion, or outright discrimination. In 1789 the United States held its first election. History would show that not all citizens were granted the right to participate in the process at that time. For decades to follow what had become a political process became plagued by loopholes, demonstrations, bloodshed, and loss of lives. In 1965 the landmark Voters Right Act granted us inclusion in the process. The Voters Rights Act would become the 15th amendment to the United States Constitution.

CITY OF CHICAGO SECURES FIRST FITCH RATING UPGRADE IN NEARLY 13 YEARS
Mayor Lori E. Lightfoot announced that Fitch Ratings (Fitch) upgraded their long-term ratings for the City of Chicago’s General Obligation Bonds (GO) by one notch from “BBB-” to “BBB” with a positive outlook. The positive outlook signals that Fitch believes there is potential for further upgrades over the next one-to-two-year period. This upgrade and positive outlook illustrate Fitch’s confidence in the financial plan that the City has laid out and made good on over the last three years and the prospects for continued improvement in the City’s finances in the years to come.

15th Annual 3Arts Awards Celebration grants nearly half a million dollars to Chicago artists
3Arts, the Chicago- based nonprofit grantmaking organization, honors the milestone 15th anniversary of the 3Arts Awards with nearly half a million dollars in unrestricted grants to Chicago artists. The 15th annual 3Arts Awards Celebration takes place Monday, November 7 via livestream on YouTube where the organization will honor ten new 3Arts Awards recipients with $30,000 cash grants, announce $50,000 Next Level/Spare Room awardees, and award ten additional artists with $2,000 cash grants through Make a Wave. The online event is free to the public and features commissioned performances by 3Arts artists, including Aram Han Sifuentes, Bethany Thomas, Robby Lee Williams, and Santiago X. Tarell Alvin McCraney graduated from the New World School of the Arts in Miami, Fla., and auditioned for the Goodman School at DePaul University. He graduated from DePaul University with a BFA in Acting. While in that program, he received training in play, getting onstage and being in the world that the actors were imaging at the time. He also learned the craft of making sure he was playing an action, delivering a line, projecting a voice.
MAYOR LIGHTFOOT RELEASES THE CHICAGO BUILDING DECARBONIZATION WORKING GROUP RECOMMENDATIONS REPORT
Mayor Lori E. Lightfoot released the Chicago Building Decarbonization Working Group (CBDWG) report, which recommends equitable solutions to address the nearly 70% of total citywide greenhouse gas emissions that come from buildings in Chicago. The report release comes as Mayor Lightfoot continues to make progress on the City of Chicago’ s Green Recovery Agenda, a plan to combat climate change by drastically reducing the City’s largest sources of emissions, reducing the city’s reliance on fossil fuels and driving green economic opportunities for residents.
