Gov. Pritzker Breaks Ground on Wieland North America’s Modernized East Alton Facility
Governor JB Pritzker, Wieland Rolled Products North America, and the Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity (DCEO) joined local leaders and partners to celebrate the groundbreaking of Wieland’s modernized East Alton facility. Wieland’s $500 million investment in this modernization project will retain 800 jobs throughout Illinois, enabling the company to increase production of critical copper and copper alloy components that are used in electric vehicles (EVs), EV charging infrastructure, and renewable energy production while supporting the state's clean energy economy.
Gov. Pritzker Proposes Expanding Access to Four-Year Degrees at Community Colleges
Governor JB Pritzker joined students and leadership from Lewis and Clark Community College to propose a new community college baccalaureate degree program. Through this consumer-driven, student-centered program, community colleges would be enabled by the State to offer four-year bachelor degrees, making degrees more accessible while meeting the needs of employers in key sectors, and keeping education costs low for students and working families.
Property Tax Exemptions Are Available For Eligible Homeowners
Homeowners are encouraged to apply for property tax savings that are available for the 2024 tax year. There are eight tax exemptions those who qualify can take advantage of: The Homeowner, Senior, Veterans with Disabilities, “Senior Freeze,” Returning Veterans, Longtime Homeowner, Home Improvement and Persons with Disabilities exemptions.
