The inaugural HBCU Honors award show will showcase the “Who’s Who of HBCUs,” and will celebrate the best and brightest HBCU alumni across various industries. The event will be held at the Black Archives-Historic Lyric Theater in Miami, Florida. Emmy award-winning actress
and producer Wendy Raquel Robinson, a Howard University alumna, will host the all-star night of Black Excellence. The event will be broadcasted during Black History Month in February 2023.
City Treasurer Melissa Conyears-Ervin joined Mayor Lori E. Lightfoot, members of the Black Caucus, and representatives from the March of Dimes to honor one of the nation’s most historic Black Greek letter organizations, Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc., and to thank its 100,000 members for the contributions to Chicago’s – and the nation’s – African American communities for the past 100 years.
Malcolm X College has a strong history of celebrating Kwanzaa and for more than 16 years. This year the celebration will begin at

The Chicago Police Department (CPD) will host in-person police officer entry exams at all City Colleges of Chicago locations in December. The exams will be held from Thursday to Saturday, Dec. 1-3. Individuals who are between the ages of 21 and 39 are eligible to take the exam and begin the process of becoming a CPD officer.

The Chicago Urban League’s 61st Annual Golden Fellowship Dinner (GFD) raised more than $2 million on Saturday, Nov. 5, at the Sheraton Grand Chicago Riverwalk. More than 1,800 of the city’s corporate leaders, human rights advocates, philanthropists, clergy and elected
officials were present for the evening, where the theme was “The Fight for Equity Continues: Get in League with Us!” The funds
raised will benefit year-round programming for about 15,000 Chicagoans.
