New “BIG Bernoulli Blower” Added to Popular Exhibit Exploring 

Power of Wind

“Spider Saturday” on August 29 Adds Even More Fun for Families


Glenview, IL – Due to popular demand, Kohl Children’s Museum of Greater Chicago announces that the “WhirlWind” exhibit will be extended four months through January 3, giving families even more time to explore the power of wind and air through hands-on, interactive play.


“The response to ‘WhirlWind’ has been wonderful, and we’re excited to keep the experience at Kohl Children’s Museum for even longer,” says Stephanie Bynum, Vice President of Programs at Kohl Children’s Museum. “This exhibit captures what we love about learning through play and invites children to get curious, experiment and discover how something as powerful as wind shapes the world around them. We’re thrilled that more families will now have the opportunity to experience it.”


As part of the exhibit extension, Kohl Children’s Museum is introducing an all-new component: the BIG Bernoulli Blower. Visitors can wield the most powerful air current in the exhibit, sending beach balls soaring toward the ceiling using a 3 1/2-foot wind tube that blasts air at 4000 cubic feet per minute. Children can see what happens when they release balls of different sizes into the air stream.


Designed by the team at Kohl Children Museum, “WhirlWind” encourages collaborative play and learning, while introducing children to concepts like force and motion, cause and effect, visual tracking, velocity and pressure and trial and error. Aside from Bernoulli Blower, which helps kids learn about the Bernoulli Principle of velocity and pressure, other elements include the Fly like a Bird section uses green screen technology so guests can see themselves “flying” high in the sky.


“Spider Saturday” Comes to Kohl Children’s Museum August 29

Families can also experience a special “Spider Saturday” on August 29, featuring appearances by Web-Slinging Hero and Spider Heroine. The characters will be at the Museum from 1:30 to 4 p.m., giving young visitors the opportunity to see their favorite web-slinging heroes and participate in a character meet and greet.


Character performers are independently provided and are not affiliated with, endorsed by, sponsored by, or associated with Marvel, Disney, or any related rights holder.


Annual Museum Closure

Please note: Kohl Children’s Museum will be closed from August 31 through September 4 for its annual deep cleaning of the entire museum. The Museum will reopen to visitors following the closure on September 4.
