CIRCLE Foundation Gala Empowers Chicago Youth Through Global Service and Cultural Connection
CHICAGO — For nearly two decades, the CIRCLE Foundation has been creating pathways of opportunity for young people across Chicago. This April, the organization continues that legacy with its 17th Annual Gala & Scholarship Fundraiser, an event centered on empowerment, global connection, and community impact.
Taking place on April 18 at the Alhambra Palace Restaurant, the gala will bring together community leaders, advocates, and supporters committed to uplifting youth from historically under-resourced communities. But beyond the elegance of the evening lies a deeper mission—preparing the next generation of leaders through education, service, and cultural exposure.
At the heart of this year’s initiative are students from Innovations High School, who will travel to Ghana this summer for a transformative cultural immersion and volunteer experience. Through hands-on service—such as restoring classrooms and supporting local schools—students will not only give back, but also gain a global perspective that shapes their leadership and identity.
The Foundation’s work in Ghana is rooted in a growing partnership with the Church of Christ Basic School in Cape Coast, where volunteers have already made a lasting impact by improving learning environments and providing essential resources. What began as a service trip has evolved into a sustained commitment to international collaboration and community uplift.
“This is about exposure, opportunity, and purpose,” LaShaun Jackson, Founder of CIRCLE Foundation. “We are creating experiences that allow young people to see beyond their circumstances and recognize their power to make change—locally and globally.”
This year’s gala will also introduce a silent auction featuring artwork from African artists, with proceeds supporting student travel and programming. In addition, a community donation drive will collect clothing, shoes, and school supplies to benefit communities in Ghana—providing a direct way for Chicago residents to contribute to global impact.
The evening will honor local changemakers Corey Brooks, Nakisha Hobbs, and Afrika Porter, whose work continues to strengthen Chicago’s communities. Hosted by Val Warner and featuring a special performance by Mayda del Valle, the event promises to be both inspiring and deeply rooted in culture and purpose.
As the CIRCLE Foundation continues to expand its reach, one thing remains clear: investing in youth is investing in the future—not just of Chicago, but of communities around the world.
