COMMISSIONER KISHA MCCASKILL URGING 5TH DISTRICT RESIDENTS IMPACTED BY RECENT STORMS AND TORNADOES TO COMPLETE CRITICAL RELIEF SURVEY

RESIDENT RESPONSES WILL HELP DOCUMENT STORM DAMAGE, IDENTIFY COMMUNITY NEEDS AND SUPPORT EFFORTS TO SECURE DISASTER RELIEF AND RECOVERY RESOURCES

(Chicago, IL) In the wake of recent severe storms and tornado activity that impacted communities throughout Cook County’s 5th District, Cook County Commissioner Dr. Kisha McCaskill is urging residents who experienced storm-related damage or other impacts to complete the 5th District Resident Relief Survey as soon as possible.

The survey is designed to help document the extent of damage and identify the immediate and ongoing needs of residents affected by severe weather events on July 27–28, August 11–12, and August 13, 2026. Information submitted by residents will help provide a clearer picture of the impact across 5th District communities and can support efforts to pursue relief, recovery assistance, and additional resources for affected neighborhoods.

“Our residents have endured significant challenges as a result of these recent storms, and it is critical that we accurately document how our communities have been impacted. Every household affected has a story that needs to be counted. I am strongly encouraging residents to complete this survey because the information we collect can help demonstrate the level of need throughout the 5th District and strengthen our efforts to advocate for the relief and resources our communities deserve,” said Cook County Commissioner Dr. Kisha McCaskill.

Residents who experienced property damage, storm-related disruptions or other impacts are strongly encouraged to participate. Residents who may have already reported damage through another agency or organization are encouraged to ensure their experiences and community needs are properly documented through the 5th District survey. Completion of the survey is extremely important to ongoing efforts to identify the scope of the damage and advocate for available relief. Residents are encouraged to complete the survey as soon as possible.
