World Conference of Mayors Endorses 14th Annual Month of Non-Violence, Families, and Understanding Impact of Artificial Intelligence

On May 30, 2025, the World Conference of Mayors (WCM) voted to endorse the “14th Annual Month of Non-Violence, Families, and Understanding the Impact of Artificial Intelligence.” (Resolution Attached) This year’s annual event scheduled for October 2025, is sponsored by Black Women for Positive Change, (BWPC) and the Positive Change Foundation. The new partnership will focus on strategies to decrease violence globally and in the USA due to domestic violence, gun use, civil unrest and to produce positive change through educating people about the impact of Artificial Intelligence.

Under the leadership of The Honorable Johnny Ford, former Alabama State Legislator, former Mayor of Tuskegee, Alabama, and Founder of The World Conference of Mayors, the partnership will encourage international municipal associations, Mayors, and units of local governments, to apply their global communications systems, to urge leaders to help “Change the Culture of Violence in America, and the World.”

“We are excited to partner with the World Conference of Mayors to work together to expand efforts to organize violence prevention events around the world and we thank Dr. E. Faye Williams for laying the groundwork with the WCM,” said Dr. Stephanie Myers and Honorable Daun S. Hester, National Co-Chairs, of Black Women for Positive Change.

They stated that in 2013, they had multi-cultural and intergenerational participation from Everytown for Gun Safety, the National Black Nurses Association, 100 Fathers Inc. 8 countries overseas, and leaders in 10 USA States. Since the USA experiences higher rates of gun-related deaths and mass shootings compared to other developed nations these issues will be addressed during the Month of Non-Violence. They will also focus on social determinants like joblessness; the economic strain of poverty that often results in violence; and the social fragmentation dividing communities along racial, socioeconomic, and political lines.

This bold partnership between the World Conference of Mayors and Black Women for Positive Change comes at a time when violence is at crisis levels in the USA and abroad. The October 2025 events will also examine how Artificial Intelligence impacts communities globally and its ability to create ethical and non-violent alternatives.

In addition, the WCM endorsed a book on AI written by Rev. Dr. Barbara Reynolds, Chair, AI Committee for Black Women for Positive Change, titled, “The Rise and Fall of the Techno Messiah: Artificial Intelligence in the End Times.”

It is available at: Amazon.com and through her email at Reynew77@gmail.com. All are invited to Sign Up for the Month of Non-Violence, Families and Understanding the Impact of AI, at www.monthofnonviolence.org
