CVI LEADERS – ACCLIVUS OBSERVE NATIONAL GUN VIOLENCE PREVENTION MONTH
AMID INCREASED CONFLICT MEDIATIONS AND LOWERED RETALIATION INCIDENTS
CHICAGO – June is National Gun Violence Awareness Month and community violence intervention (CVI) leader, Acclivus (ak·luh·vus) is observing the month with a demonstrated commitment to preventing deadly gun violence while maintaining peace and safety in high-risk neighborhoods across the city.
Acclivus serves as Chicago’s CVI co-lead in the near- and far-south communities. From January 1 through May 31, the community health organization conducted 930 conflict mediations and 512 hospital responses to support victims and survivors of violence and their families.
Additionally, Acclivus continues its support of grassroots community partners or subgrantees with indigenous leadership. From 2020 to 2025, more than $27 million in grants have been issued to 42 subgrantees.
All month, Acclivus is hosting and supporting numerous community-focused events – from Town Hall meetings and record sealings/expungements to Wear Orange life celebrations, Midnight Basketball games and Teen Mental Health workshops, culminating with:
June 27 – Wipe It Clean & Chill Event, West Pullman, 1-5 pm
June 28 – Community Fun Day, Washington Park Fieldhouse, Noon – 4 pm
“Across our nine sites, our conflict mediation and hospital response numbers translate into potential lives saved through the prevention of violent incidents or shootings and the reduction of retaliations,” said Acclivus CEO LeVon Stone, Sr. “We will continue to leverage our strong relationships and influence in high-risk communities to support the City’s overall goal of fewer than 500 shootings by year’s end.”
