BLUE ISLAND PARK COMMISSIONERS AND EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR ON HAND AS REPRESENTATIVE BOB RITA RECEIVED THE LEGISLATOR OF THE YEAR AWARD FROM THE ILLINOIS ASSOCIATION OF PARK DISTRICTS
(Blue Island, Illinois) Tonya R. Howard-Commissioner of the Blue Island Park District- recently was joined by fellow Commissioner GiGi John and Blue Island Park District Executive Director Teddy Ruthenberg as they were on hand to witness Illinois State Representative Robert "Bob" Rita receive the prestigious Outstanding Legislator of the Year Award from the Illinois Association of Park Districts.
The ceremony took place at the iconic Hyatt Regency in Chicago. Over 3000 attendees were present as various Park officials throughout the state were on hand to receive recognition for their respective contributions to the success of park districts across the state of Illinois.
"The true success of the Blue Island Park District must be credited in part to the enormous support receive from Representative Rita. There is not a year that has gone by that Representative Rita has not stepped up to the plate and assist with funding the various needs of not only the Blue Island Park District, but for every Park District within his legislative district. He is truly deserving of this honor." says Commissioner Howard.
Commissioner John adds, "Bob is not only an outstanding legislator, but he is a true friend of the parks in Blue Island. He often tells of his positive experiences as a young boy who participated in the activities of the park district. It is only fitting for him to receive this honor.
As the Illinois State Representative of the 28th Legislative District, Representative Rita has delivered literally millions of dollars throughout his tenure as representative to the Blue Island Park District. These dollars have assisted in programming, infrastructure, playground equipment, construction of new parks and swimming pools. The Park District has been recognized throughout the state as best in class as it relates to operations and for its stellar resources for children.
"Executive Director Ruthenberg concludes,"Words could never express our collective gratitude and appreciation for Representative Rita's support of our district. He has been steadfast in his willingness to not only assist with funding, but advocating our programs as well. As a lifelong user of our district, he knows all too well of the community benefit that the district offers. This honor was long overdue."
