South Suburban College to Celebrate Radiologic Technology Graduates, Including Students Displaced by Abrupt College Closure
SOUTH HOLLAND, IL – South Suburban College (SSC) is proud to announce a special pinning ceremony honoring the accomplishments of the 2024–2025 Radiologic Technology cohort, including students who continued their education at SSC after being displaced by the sudden closure of Northwestern College. The ceremony will take place on Tuesday, December 9, 2025, at 6:00 p.m. in the Kindig Performing Arts Center on SSC’s Main Campus.
In the wake of Northwestern College’s abrupt shutdown, SSC opened its doors to affected Radiologic Technology students, ensuring that their academic progress could continue without interruption. Through dedicated faculty support, tailored transition plans, and a commitment to student success, the displaced students were able to complete their program requirements and join the SSC community in earning this important educational milestone.
“This ceremony represents not only academic achievement, but resilience,” said Dr. Megan Hughes, Dean of Allied Health and Career Programs. “We are honored to have supported these students through an unexpected and difficult transition, and we are proud to now celebrate their success.”
The pinning ceremony—a long-standing tradition in health sciences education symbolizes students’ entry into the profession and acknowledges the dedication, perseverance, and compassion required of Radiologic Technologists. Family members, friends, faculty, and community supporters are invited to attend and recognize the achievements of both SSC students and the former Northwestern College students who are now part of the SSC family.
