Modern DMV, Made Easy: Giannoulias Unveils Brand-New, State-of-the-Art Naperville One-Stop-Shop DMV
Larger Facility Allows for New Efficiencies to Better Serve the Surrounding Community
Illinois Secretary of State Alexi Giannoulias unveiled the new, state-of-the-art DMV in Naperville, offering faster, streamlined services and efficiencies.
After over 30 years at the previous location, the Naperville DMV has moved to 1771 W Diehl Road, Unit 110. The modern facility boasts 3,000 additional square feet of space and additional parking to better serve the needs of the growing community. It also leverages the office’s One-Stop-Shop model, featuring cross-trained employees to handle more tasks and a more intuitive flow for customers.
This appointment-only location is open Monday through Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturdays from 7:30 a.m. to noon. Services offered include driver’s license applications and renewals, REAL ID applications, title work, driving tests, vehicle registration renewals and renewal stickers – all delivered from a single service counter through the One-Stop-Shop model.
“The new Naperville DMV embodies our commitment to efficient, customer-friendly public service that our state’s third-largest city deserves,” said Giannoulias, noting that the city’s population has grown from approximately 105,000 when the former DMV opened in 1994 to nearly 155,000 today. “By implementing our One-Stop-Shop model at the new location, we’re able to add more appointments and help more people get in, get out, and get on with their day.”
“Residents of DuPage County deserve access to modern government services that fit into their busy lives,” said State Senator Karina Villa (25th District – West Chicago). “This upgraded facility is a strong step toward eliminating wait times and improving access for working families.”
“This new facility is a meaningful investment in the everyday needs of our community,” said State Representative Maura Hirschauer (49th District – Batavia). “By expanding capacity and simplifying the customer experience, it will be easier for residents to take care of essential tasks while avoiding unnecessary stress or delays.”
“An important part of public service is looking for ways to improve services that impact everyday life for our residents and businesses, be it the local or state level,” said Naperville Mayor Scott Wehrli. “We’re pleased that the Naperville community and the region will benefit from this more accessible and time-saving method of visiting the DMV for driver’s licenses, vehicle registrations, and all other motor vehicle services.”
The old facility, located at 931 W. 75th St., Suite 161, closed on Thursday at noon, and the new location opened on Friday at noon.
Residents are encouraged to continue using the office’s appointment portal to Skip-the-Line by visiting www.ilsos.gov or calling 800-252-8980.
