City Colleges of Chicago and Amazon-MLU bring enhanced Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning to the college’s faculty
CHICAGO - City Colleges of Chicago is proud to announce an enhanced collaboration with Amazon Web Services (AWS) in a major expansion of its Machine Learning University Educator Enablement Program (MLU‑EEP) for faculty at City Colleges of Chicago.
The MLU-EEP is a program designed to prepare City Colleges of Chicago (CCC) faculty to teach CCC students for the in-demand jobs of today and tomorrow. The program's purpose is also to bridge any gaps in resources in the AI/MLU field of study.
Through comprehensive technical bootcamps, virtual training sessions, and year-round professional development opportunities, educators will gain expertise in cutting-edge AI/ML concepts powered by AWS cloud technology. City Colleges of Chicago highly lauded AWS program is available to all City Colleges of Chicago students and is taught at Kennedy-King College’s through the Tech Launchpad facilities.
City Colleges of Chicago has been a part of the Amazon Web Services (AWS) Tech Alliance collaboration since 2023. Amazon’s MLU-EEP launched in February 2025 with the Inaugural MLU-HBCU AI/ML Teaching and Research Symposium followed by ongoing support training, support, and activities.
The MLU‑EEP is a nationwide initiative helping college faculty integrate artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML) into their curriculum.
“Our collaboration with AWS reinforces City Colleges of Chicago’s and Kennedy-King College’s dedication to delivering high-quality educational pathways that align with tech industry demands,” said Ayoka Noelle Samuels, Associate Vice Chancellor at City Colleges of Chicago. “By providing our faculty with access to advanced technology, we’re enhancing their ability to support students. The program ultimately empowers instructors to better prepare students for an evolving job market and it is driving success at every level.”
City Colleges of Chicago is one of several institutions participating in this effort. The initiative aims to build inclusive AI education pathways, especially at community colleges and Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs).
Participating institutions will receive:
• Two 4-day summer bootcamps covering machine learning and generative AI
• Intensive technical training in AWS AI/ML services
• Curriculum development resources and materials
• Access to AWS resources and programs for education
• Connection to an industry-academic AI/ML community of practice
“I’m thankful and proud to work for AWS’ Machine Learning University at City Colleges of Chicago because it is building an inclusive AI education for City Colleges of Chicago faculty,” said AI Instructor Milan McGraw. “This incredible program is deeply committed to City Colleges of Chicago students as well as equipping educators with the tools they need to instruct with excellence.”
