RICH TOWNSHIP HIGH SCHOOL(RTHS) AND MATTESON SCHOOL DISTRICT 162 STAFF RAISE THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS FOR FELLOW FEMALE STAFFER WHO’S HOME WAS DESTROYED IN RECENT FIRE
RTHS STAFFER ROMENO CARRADINE IS HELPING RAISE FIVE SMALL GRANDCHILDREN, BUT HER PARK FOREST HOME WAS RECENTLY
DESTROYED FROM AN INTENSE FIRE
On Saturday, January 7th, RTHS Employee Romeno Carradine, who is helping raise five grade school grandchildren, lost all of her earthly possessions in an early morning house fire in Park Forest, Illinois. Fortunately, Romeno, her five grandchildren, and adult relatives were able to exit the home safely. However, the family were left with only the clothing on their backs when they were rescued from the burning home.
Given the enormous lost in which the family endured, Romeno’s co-workers at Rich Township High School and staff at Matteson School District 162 began collecting monies to assist in getting this family on the path to recovery.
Thousands of dollars have been collected from the RTHS and Matteson School District 162 staff as well as from the surrounding community through a GoFundMe account, as well as drop-offs to support the family.
Romeno had been raising her six grandchildren in their Park Forest Home located at 525 Antietam. Since the fire she has found it extremely difficult to sustain a quality of life for her and her family in which she adores. Romeno has been employed by RTHS District 227 and resides in Rich Township in order for her grandchildren to attend Matteson School District 162. “I am extremely grateful for the support and want to thank everyone for their generosity.” says Romeno.
Both School Districts have coalesced their efforts to provide Romeno with a financial boost that will provide her family with resources to begin their journey back to a full and healthy recovery.
The School Districts is set to lure Romeno to the RTHS Fine Art building where her co-workers will be assembled and surprise her with thousands of dollars, gift cards and appliances.
“I applaud our combined school districts with this wonderful show of generosity and love for one of our own. Romeno is a stellar employee who just happens to be going through a dramatic life changing experience. It is our sincere hope that these donations will be of great help as she attempts to restore and replace so much that was lost in that dangerous fire.” says RTHS District 227 Superintendent Dr. Johnnie Thomas.
