EARLY WALKER AND INTERNATIONALLY RENOWN RECORD LABEL CEO TO LEAD TOWNHALL DISCUSSION ON CHICAGO VIOLENCE WITH HIP HOP, THERAPY AND CONVERSATIONS
Thursday, March 3rd @ 2:00 PM AT Fenger High School, 11220 S. Wallace, Chicago, Illinois
Early Walker- Founder of “I’m Telling, Don’t Shoot” will be joined by the J Price, President and CEO of the “Rap-a-Lot” Record label, in leading a unique coalition of Civic, Entertainment, law enforcement, government, and youth in a town hall meeting on Chicago violence.
J Prince has chosen to come to Chicago at the request of Early Walker to speak to the thousands upon thousands of his followers here in Chicago. J Prince is the record label owner who introduced Drake and Lil Wayne to the world. Walker is hopeful that J Prince can speak peace to young Black men and women who would ordinarily consider violence as a means to expressing themselves.
“Our goal is to get the correct stakeholders to the table to not only promote peace but create strategies across all spectrums of the community that will address the numerous woes in which African Americans are challenged daily.” says Early Walker.
The Blue Ribbon round table of participants include:
CPD Superintendent Dave Brown
DJ Pharris
Father Michael Pfleger
Suheir Williams
Alderman Stephanie Coleman
Andre Williams
Cook County Judge John Lyke
Larry Hoover Jr
Bishop Larry D. Trotter
“I applaud Early Walker for his continued concern for women and children. We can ill afford to endure another bloody summer. I’m hopeful that by engaging J Prince and the Hip Hop community in these discussions, it might be impactful to so many of our youth who are influenced by these mega stars.” says Bishop Larry D. Trotter.
Walker will have survivors of gun violence address the audience of their horrific experiences. In addition, a select group of teenagers will speak about their suggestions to curb much of the violence within their neighborhoods.
The event will be held at the historic Chicago Fenger High School. Unfortunately, the high school is most notably connected to the tragic beating of Derrion Albert, a Fenger High School Junior who was killed outside of the school in September of 2009.
