(Chicago, IL) Pastor John Harrell, Founder and President of the Black Men United Organization- will lead over 1000 confirmed attendees in a distribution of one of the largest multi-million-dollar giveaways in Chicago. Harrell is seeking to provide a day of peace, family, and

celebration of Life as they restore Chicago, one community at a time.

Pastor John Harrell, Black Men United and Marshall H.S. Alumni Association are set to distribute over 1.8 million Dollars of donated items for those in need. The giveaway comes at a perfect time as inflation rises throughout the region, and many families begin to experience warm temperatures with limited resources to central Air. Some items to be given away are portable air conditioning units, fans, air fryers, ice makers, masks, wipes, pampers, lawn mowers, trimmers, mini appliances, vanities, and other various essential items.

“On a weekend where the Marshall High School alumni Association has chosen to honor me, I felt compelled to give back to the neighborhoods that surround my beloved school that taught me so much as a kid. I just could not stand idle and receive such an honor while driving past areas that are distressed and in dire need of uplifting. I am hopeful that these donations will bring smiles to those that attend,” says Pastor Harrell.

The incentive of this giveaway is to help bridge the gap by meeting the needs of the people in every community. One of the missions of the Black Men United Organization is to uphold the restoration and rebuilding of Black communities across America. Eight trucks are set to be emptied and meet the needs of the women, children, and residents near and around the Garfield Park community.

Black Men United will announce educational scholarships in honor of Legendary Coach Dorothy Gaters, Luther Bedford, Activist Nancy B Jefferson, Commander Claude Ervin, and James Cole, “Mr. Shine King.” The event will take place behind Marshall High School on Monroe Street.

BMU has requested of the recipients anticipated to receive items to bring carts, wagons, or oversized vehicles for transporting large items. Some of the other phenomenal participating sponsors are Worldvision and Chicago CRED.
