“AGELESS DIVA, ENJOYING LIFE ON NATURE’S TIMELINE,” is BEATRICE WATSON

Poetic Storyteller’s favorite reference, when it comes to age. For those that feel bound to follow Man-Made chart of Time and Age, do your own math. She came of age in Detroit Michigan, during the Mid Fifties and lives her adult life in Chicago. “For as long as allowed, I will approach each day as, No Better Time to fulfill my God Given Purpose.” Proclaims this vibrant, resilient woman, rich in age, Blessed in experience and wisdom. This New Age take on life, has led Beatrice, with the support of her daughter Mia, to embark upon a campaign called “Ageless Divas, Women of Purpose,” a project that hopes to motivate women of all
ages to take charge of their own destiny, by discarding the
stigma and psychological pressure that society places
on women based on physical attributes and predetermined
years of useful viability.

Beatrice purposely uses the term,” Diva,” which Webster describes as a difficult or temperamental woman, it was a term that prominent Black
women was negatively labeled with, because of their determination, defiance and self-confidence. Those positive, qualities were not the picture that society wanted the world to identify with women of color. A
Black woman’s personality and attitude, whether people like it or not, was shaped from our journey of survival, where strength, not sweet smiles or feminine tears was the acceptable boarding pass, for us and our families. “I proudly wear the title, “Diva” because it is a badge of Honor, that shows the hurdles, struggles and obstacles that women of color had to overcome, and they are still doing so.”

Over Three Decades Beatrice, under her community theater
group, JA-WA Production, now recently an LLC, has conducted
Workshops and produced annual productions that addresses the
struggles, survival and triumphs in the inner city and is now setting
her sights on the film industry. Her creative platform serves her as
a Community Activist, bringing participants of all ages, gender and
class together, in order to bridge a common ground of respect and
self-worth.

As well as being an innovative entrepreneur, that has seen firsthand the changing times and the effects it has had on theA frican American Experience, over the years, Ms. Watson uses her personal challenge as a ten-year Cancer Survivor to encourage women, not only to be the guardian of their own health, but to take advantage of each day, living it to its fullest, as they continue to strive toward their highest potential.

A published Author of “Simply Madear,” a family value Memoir, of overcoming the loss of a mother, a Social Issue book of Poetry, “The Fragments of Life, “and its companion, a spoken word CD/DVD, “Look, Here Comes the Sun!” as well as a Workshop facilitator, Beatrice assists writers in documenting their legacy, through the writing of their Memoir. She is presently working on her autobiography, “The Making of an Ageless Diva, not a Fairytale,” Set on an historical backdrop, from the
50’s through the present, it gives an insight on how women in general and Black women, in particular, have had their lives manipulated, from infancy into adulthood, by way of the fallacies of fairytales, per her point of view. Its due out in the late Fall of this year. For more information on Beatrice and her work, you can go to www.beinspiredand-ageless.com.
