Commissioner Miller’s Son Follows His Mother’s Lead in Being a Community Ambassador by Stepping Up and Taking His Shot

Cook County Commissioner Donna Miller (D-6th) will proudly accompany her son Donovan this coming Saturday, May 15, 2021 at 8AM CT at the Cook County Mass Vaccination site located at South Suburban College – located at 15800 South State Street in South Holland, IL to receive his first dose of the Pfizer Covid-19 vaccine that was just approved for emergency use in 12-15 year-olds this week.

Youth vaccinations at the South Suburban College site and other Cook County Health sites providing youth vaccinations will be provided to walk-ins and can be scheduled at vaccine.cookcountyil.gov. Individuals without internet access or who need assistance scheduling can call (833) 308-1988 (Monday-Friday, 7:00AM-10:00PM & Saturday, 8:00AM-10:00PM). Cook County Health will only offer appointment slots based on the amount of vaccine on hand and will add appointments as new vaccine shipments arrive.

“We are a family that follows and studies the science so while it is not a surprise to me that my son would choose to take the shot, I am proud of him for reaching this decision on his own,” said Commissioner Miller.

“I’m thankful for this opportunity to do my part for the greater good while also increasing my personal safety as well,” said Donovan Miller. “It just makes good sense and will help us return to school safely!” he added.

In addition to Cook County Health sites, the Cook County Department of Public Health has distributed vaccines to more than 90 partner locations including Jewel-Osco, Mariano’s, Walgreens, Federally Qualified Health Centers and hospitals who are also offering vaccines by appointment. A complete listing of these sites can be found at www.cookcountypublichealth.org.

“We must ensure as many people get vaccinated as soon as possible so we can reach herd immunity, but also to help prevent the virus from mutating so quickly. I encourage everyone including 12-15 year-olds to get vaccinated,” said Commissioner Miller.
