“New Beginnings” Garden
“New Beginnings” Garden
(Chicago) 8th Ward Alderman Michelle Harris and Cook County State’s Attorney Kimberly Foxx recently celebrated spring while furthering the cause of social and community justice by hosting the “Dig In and Get Dirty” Press Conference and Ground Breaking Ceremony.
In honor of this new garden, community partners local neighbors, activists
and others joined together with elected officials to plant a brand new Community
Vegetable Garden, which supports and promotes neighborhood beautification, environmental sustainability and healthy lifestyles.
The event was held in partnership with the Community Justice Center South, located in the 8th Ward, as well as the Public Image Partnership, a local nonprofit youth job-training initiative. The youth will be helping to dig and plant the garden.
