The South Side Jazz Coalition (SSJC) have prepared an exciting Father’s Day and 'Juneteenth' concert event in partnership with the DuSable Museum of African-American History, which will bring together hundreds of Chicagoland music lovers from all walks of life on Sunday, June 19, 2016 in honor of Black Music Month.

The concert starts at 5:00 p.m. at the DuSable Museum, located at 740 East 56th Place, in the auditorium. General Admission is $35 and VIP Seating, (which includes a pre-concert welcome reception from 3-4 p.m.) is $50. Doors open at 4 p.m. “Gone But Not Forgotten: A Tribute to Jazz Greats” is the theme of the concert, which will provide a perfect destination for fathers and the families who love them, as well as people who love jazz music.

On June 19th, the South Side Jazz Coalition will pay tribute to a few of those not often mentioned incredible artists who left a legacy of music that will never be forgotten. We will enjoy the music of legendary lights as Von Freeman, King Pleasure, Dakota Staton, Dinah Washington, Irene Reid, Gene 'Jug' Ammons, Carmen McRae and Pearl Bailey just to name a few.

A fantastic group of Chicago musicians and vocalists have been gathered to pay homage to these jazz greats. Vocalists and local Chicago musicologists Bobbi Wilsyn, Margaret Murphy-Webb, Lucious Bell, Laura Walls and the teen jazz prodigy Mae Ya, whose soaring, five-octave vocals will be sure to enchant, excite and enthrall audiences. These artists will be joined by one of the city's finest contemporary jazz & RB virtuosos - Audley Reid on saxophone, and SSJC’s Music Director, Chuck Webb.

“There is so much synergy and talented musical energy between the mission of The South Side Jazz Coalition and honoring African-American Father’s during Black Music Month. We’re excited to feature some of the greatest local vocalists and musicians that come out of Chicago’s rich jazz heritage on Sunday, June 19th on the DuSable Museum stage,” SSJC Co-Founder and Vice-Chairman Sasha Daltonn said.
