Economy-Jobs: US job openings rise in October to most in 2 years
WASHINGTON - Businesses and government advertised nearly 3.4 million jobs at the end of October, up about 12 percent from the previous month, the Labor Department said last week. That reverses two months of declines and is the highest total since August 2008, just before the financial crisis intensified.
Business leaders warned governor about trade trip
ST. LOUIS - Missouri Gov. Jay Nixon postponed a planned trade trip to Taiwan and South Korea after business leaders warned it could endanger a proposal to make Lambert-St. Louis International Airport a trade hub.
The St. Louis Post-Dispatch reported that members of the Midwest China Hub Commission were concerned the trip to Taiwan could anger Chinese officials. Missouri has been working to expand trade between the Midwest and China and hopes to make Lambert Airport a major entry point for Chinese goods.
