...Dangerous Wind Chills Will Continue this Morning across the
Higher Elevations...
.An arctic airmass remains entrenched across the southern
Appalachians this morning. The higher elevations currently have
temperatures between 5 below zero and 5 above zero. These
temperatures combined with brisk northwesterly winds of 5 to 10
mph are producing dangerous wind chill values across the Mountains
of east Tennessee and southwest Virginia.
...WIND CHILL ADVISORY REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 10 AM EST THIS
MORNING...
* WHAT...Very cold wind chills between 15 below to 5 below zero will
continue through late morning. The cold wind chills will cause
frostbite in as little as 30 minutes to exposed skin.
* WHERE...Far east Tennessee Mountains and Mountains of southwest
Virginia.
* WHEN...Until 10 AM EST this morning.
* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Remember to dress appropriately for the
extreme cold wind chills. Make sure you wear a hat and gloves.
