* Portions of southeast Maryland, northeast North Carolina, and
Virginia, including the following areas, in southeast
Maryland, Dorchester, Inland Worcester, Maryland Beaches,
Somerset, and Wicomico. In northeast North Carolina, Camden,
Chowan, Eastern Currituck, Gates, Pasquotank, Perquimans, and
Western Currituck. In Virginia, Accomack, Charles City,
Chesapeake, Eastern Essex, Eastern King William, Eastern King
and Queen, Gloucester, Hampton/Poquoson, Isle of Wight, James
City, Lancaster, Mathews, Middlesex, New Kent, Newport News,
Norfolk/Portsmouth, Northampton, Northumberland, Richmond,
Suffolk, Surry, Virginia Beach, Western Essex, Western King
and Queen, Westmoreland, and York.
* Until 8 AM EDT this morning
* Heavy rain by late tonight. Storm total rainfall of 2 to 5
inches with locally higher amounts is expected in the watch
area.
* This rainfall could produce flash flooding, particularly in
areas of poor drainage and near creeks, streams, and ditches.
Street flooding is likely.

The Flash Flood Watch continues for
* Portions of Virginia and eastern West Virginia, including the
following areas, in Virginia, Albemarle, Augusta, Central
Virginia Blue Ridge, Culpeper, Eastern Highland, Greene, King
George, Madison, Nelson, Northern Virginia Blue Ridge, Orange,
Page, Rappahannock, Rockingham, Southern Fauquier,
Spotsylvania, Stafford, and Western Highland. In eastern West
Virginia, Eastern Pendleton and Western Pendleton.
* Until 6 AM EDT Saturday
* Heavy rain is expected as showers and thunderstorms cross over
the area. Rainfall amounts will be between 1 and 2 inches, with
localized higher amounts possible.
* Rapid rises in water due to excessive rain are possible,
especially in the wake of the recent heavy rains across the
area. Streams and creeks could quickly exceed bankfull. Roads
may become blocked by high water. Mudslides are possible in
areas where heavy rain persists over higher terrain.
