...HEAVY RAIN AND FLASH FLOODING LIKELY THROUGH THIS EVENING...
.Rain, heavy at times is likely through early this evening
especially east of the Blue Ridge. The threat for flash flooding
will be highest across the foothills and piedmont sections until
Michael passes. The threat for heavy rain should finally taper off
after sunset.
...FLASH FLOOD WATCH REMAINS IN EFFECT THROUGH LATE TONIGHT...
The Flash Flood Watch continues for
* Portions of North Carolina and Virginia, including the
following areas, in North Carolina, Caswell, Rockingham,
Stokes, Surry, and Yadkin. In Virginia, Carroll, Floyd,
Franklin, Halifax, Henry, Montgomery, Patrick, Pittsylvania,
Pulaski, and Roanoke.
* Through late tonight.
* Heavy rainfall will taper off from west to east by early this
evening. An added inch of rain will be possible over the
mountains with another 2 to 4 inches possible east of the Blue
Ridge. This combined with runoff from earlier heavy rain will
likely lead to additional flooding or flash flooding into this
evening.
* The heavy rain and very high rainfall rates could produce
dangerous flash flooding across parts of the area.
