...Another late season wet snowfall likely...
.A complex late season winter storm will affect the region
tonight through Wednesday evening. Mixed wintry precipitation
will begin in the mountains tonight with light snow and freezing
rain expected. Heavier precipitation will then move into the
region late Tuesday. While this precipitation will begin as rain,
it will transition to heavy wet snow Tuesday night into Wednesday
morning. This transition will take place first in the West
Virginia mountains early Tuesday evening, and then progress into
the lowlands by Wednesday morning. Snow is expected to taper off
from west to east Wednesday afternoon into Wednesday evening.
There remains considerable uncertainty with rain to snow
changeover times and forecast snowfall amounts. However, the snow
that falls will be heavy and wet and may cause power outages
where the heaviest snow falls. Stay tuned to future forecast
updates as potential snowfall amounts and impacts become more
clear.
