...Accumulating Wet Snow Across The Area...
.A complex winter storm system will continue to affect our region
this afternoon into this evening. Ongoing areas of snow will mix
with rain and begin to taper along and east of the Blue Ridge this
afternoon. Additional upslope snow accumulations are expected late
this afternoon into tonight across southeast West Virginia,
Mountain Empire in Virginia and the High Country of North
Carolina. Snowfall accumulations will vary across the region with
higher totals across the ridges and less in the valleys.

THURSDAY...
* WHAT...Heavy snow expected. An additional two to five inches of
snow are expected into the evening. Total snow accumulations of
5 to 10 inches, with localized amounts of around 14 inches, are
expected.
* WHERE...New River Valley, southern Shenandoah Valley, Alleghany
Highlands into southeastern West Virginia.
* WHEN...Today through 8 AM EDT Thursday.
* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Plan on difficult travel conditions. Be
prepared for significant reductions in visibility at times.
Heavy wet snow may lead to downed tree limbs and power
outages. Northwest winds may gust to 40 or 45 mph this evening
into Thursday.
