  • ...FIRST MAJOR COLD FRONT OF THE SEASON MONDAY MORNING...
A cold front currently situated over the Texas Panhandle will
progress into Southeast Texas Monday through Monday night. This
will cause a drastic drop in high temperatures from near 90 today
to near 60 by Tuesday. Winds will increase Monday morning to 10-15
mph sustained with gusts up to 20-25 mph. Showers and isolated
thunderstorms will begin early Monday morning ahead of the front
with periods of showers and thunderstorms lasting behind the front
through Tuesday. Some of these storms may be strong with gusty
winds and small hail. Locally heavy rainfall is possible.
The cold front will be oriented from northeast to southwest.
Expect the front to approach College Station by 1-2 AM Monday,
Houston by 6-7 AM, and Galveston by 10-11 AM. High temperatures on
Monday will be dependent on how quickly the front passes. For
areas along the coast, temperatures may reach the low 80s before
the front passes, whereas the frontal passage early in the morning
for areas inland will limit high temperatures to near 60.
Significantly colder weather will be possible with highs
struggling to get out of the 50s near College Station. High
temperatures in the Houston area will only warm into the lower
60s. A modest warming trend is expected at the end of the week.
