...COASTAL FLOOD WARNING AND HIGH RIP CURRENT RISK...
.Hurricane Michael made landfall along the Florida Panhandle this
afternoon, however long period swells continue to impact the Mid
Texas Coast. This was resulting in dangerous rip currents and
moderate Coastal flooding. The peak of the coastal flooding is
occurring this evening with the high tide cycle. There will be
some improvement late tonight and Thursday, however minor coastal
flooding is expected to continue through at least Thursday Night
and possibly beyond.

THURSDAY NIGHT...
* COASTAL FLOODING...Water levels are expected to range between
2.5 feet and 3.0 feet above mean sea level during high tide
later this afternoon and evening. In addition, long period
swells will cause significant wave run-up. The next high tides
at Port Aransas will occur at 321 AM Thursday. The next high
tides at Port O`Connor will occur around 1010 PM this evening.
Beaches at the Padre Island National Seashore will be closed
until the waters recede.
* TIMING...Late this afternoon through Thursday Night.
* IMPACTS...Driving conditions may be adversely impacted, with
some locations being closed or barricaded, allowing no beach
access. Some beach access roads will be impassible. Items
along the beach should have already been removed due to the
incoming wave runup. Strong rip currents are expected along
gulf-facing beaches, especially near piers and jetties. These
rip currents can become life-threatening to anyone entering
the surf.
