.Atmospheric high pressure spreading across Texas will help
build more heat across the Rio Grande Valley and the King Ranch
today. The heat will combine with increased surface humidity due
to remaining standing water and high surface soil moisture to
bring heat index values to potentially dangerous levels this
afternoon.
...HEAT ADVISORY IN EFFECT FROM NOON TODAY TO 7 PM CDT THIS
EVENING...
The National Weather Service in Brownsville has issued a Heat
Advisory, which is in effect from noon today to 7 PM CDT this
evening.
* TEMPERATURE...Rising to 95 to 99 degrees between noon and 6 PM.
* HEAT INDEX...Rising to between 110 and 113 degrees by noon or 1
PM and continuing until 6 or 7 PM.
* IMPACTS...Persons spending time outside today, particularly
those cleaning up after the recent floods, are urged to hydrate
continuously before, during, and after outdoor work or activity.
Take frequent breaks in shady areas and use misters to keep
cool. Those who do not follow heat safety tips will be
susceptible to heat exhaustion or heat stroke due to
dehydration.
