...Strong Early Season Cold Front Surging through the Rio Grande
Valley...
Temperatures were crashing behind a cold front that was moving
east at around 20 mph through the mid Valley at 1245 PM. Behind
the front, temperatures had fallen up to 25 degrees in an hour and
up to 35 degrees in two hours where readings had reached 90
degrees just prior. The following are timings and parameters of
weather conditions through 3 PM:
McAllen to Harlingen...
Temperatures: Falling to 55 to 58 degrees.
Wind: Gusting 30 to 35 mph, occasionally 40 mph, from the north
Rain: Moderate to heavy with ponding and nuisance flooding in poor
drainage locations.
Lightning: Occasional cloud to ground strikes.
Raymondville to Brownsville and the Beaches...
Temperatures: 88 to 92 falling to 58 to 62 by 3 PM, except still near 80
at the beach
Wind: Gusting 30 to 40 mph, perhaps 45 mph along Laguna Madre
Rain: Moderate to heavy with ponding and nuisance flooding following
the front
Lightning: Occasional cloud to ground strikes.
Feels like temperatures will fall from 100 to 108 down to the
lower to mid 50s in just 2 or 3 hours...a 50 to 55 degree
effective temperature change!
