...Very hot temperatures expected through tonight for the El Paso
and Las Cruces metro areas and Rio Grande Valley...
.Strong high pressure aloft will allow temperatures to rise to
unhealthy levels across southern New Mexico and far west Texas.
The hottest temperatures will occur in the El Paso and Las Cruces
Metro areas and the adjacent Rio Grande Valley where afternoon
highs of 104 to 106 degrees are expected. Temperatures will be
hot through the day with little overnight cooling. Hot conditions
will continue Sunday and next week but will be a few degrees
cooler.
...HEAT ADVISORY REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 6 AM MDT SUNDAY...
* AREA IMPACTED...The El Paso and Las Cruces Metro Areas and the
Rio Grande Valley into Far West Texas.
* TEMPERATURE...Afternoon highs of 105 to 107 degrees through
Saturday. Overnight temperatures will be in the middle 70s to
near 80 degrees.
* IMPACTS...Excessively hot temperatures for an extended period
of time will put people and animals at greater risk to heat
related illnesses, especially if outside or in non-air
conditioned structures. Excessive heat will also stress
infrastructure such as utilities.
