The National Weather Service in Houston/Galveston has expanded
the
* Flash Flood Watch to include portions of south central Texas
and southeast Texas...including the following counties...in
south central Texas...Coastal Jackson and Inland Jackson. In
southeast Texas...Austin...Brazoria Islands...Coastal
Matagorda...Colorado...Inland Matagorda...Matagorda Islands...
Waller and Wharton.
* Until 9 PM CDT this evening
* Rainfall forming and circulating around a mid level low centered
over the western Gulf will be ongoing over the next several
hours. Forecast calls for less than an inch to locally 3 inch
rainfall amounts over the watch area, or the western county
forecast area, through early Thursday morning. 2 to 3 inch per
hour rainfall rates may induce rural road and low lying area
flooding.
* Another 1 to 3 inches of rain is highly probable over the watch
area through the late evening. The main threat will be that of
road flooding, especially around low lying and construction
areas. Local creeks or bayous should be able to handle this
rainfall although a quick 2 to 3 inch per hour rainfall rate
over any watershed will make levels quickly rise to near
bankfull. Lower lying areas will also experience flooding.
